DEPARTMENT: Equipment Maintenance

POSITION: Light Line Technician                     
CLASSIFICATION: PG-5
WAGE/SALARY: $27,552.45   TO   $31,994.69
 
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: Perform preventative maintenance service operations, diagnosis and repair of mechanical concerns to City fleet vehicles. Perform DOT  vehicle inspections, complete reports which summarize vehicle condition and detail needed repairs.   Operate all fleet vehicles to verify symptom or fault correction. Perform equipment test drives to confirm complete repairs.
 
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Minimum High School Diploma or GED. Must have a West Virginia CDL Class A Drivers License (or acquire within 6 months of  hire date).   
 
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Three years or more of hands-on motor Vehicle mechanical trouble shooting and repair exclusive of training. Technical   School graduate with major in either automotive or truck maintenance and repair.
   
OTHER COMMENTS: Must have 2 ASE Certification. Must hold or acquire a WV Motor Vehicle Inspector’s License all within 6 months of
assuming the position. Successfully demonstrate ability to perform repairs. Achieve a satisfactory score on mechanic’s job knowledge
written exam before assuming duties. Must be able to repair tires in the shop as well as in the field.  Must provide own mechanic’s hand
tools of suitable quality and quantity.

DEPARTMENT: Refuse & Recycling

POSITION: Laborer/Route Helper
 
CLASSIFICATION: PG-2
 
WAGE/SALARY: $25,465.96 TO $26,990.36
  
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: Pick up disposables (garbage, trash and recycling materials) in a timely manner. Follow safe working procedures according to company and OSHA standard. Practice good housekeeping on assigned unit. Ride only on designated steps for that purpose. Clean up spilled garbage.  Work effectively with driver who is in charge of the truck and other helpers. Route helpers with CDL may be required to drive for override pay, if needed. Route helpers are expected to assist in cleaning of unit the work on and any others if needed directed by route foreman.
    
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Minimum High School Diploma or GED.
 
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:    Must be able to read street signs.
 
OTHER COMMENTS: Must have valid WV Driver’s license. CDL A or B preferred, but not required. Operate the Steam Jenny to wash truck. Will use broom, shovel, pitchfork, operate unit system and hoist on trucks. Must be able to interact in a positive manner with the public. Observe safety rules, and must have ability to communicate effectively with the public.
 
Civic Center - Ticket Taker

CLASSIFICATION: IPT (Irregular part time) called only when needed as event schedule dictates.
WAGE: $7.25 per hour

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: Must be organized and have good communication skills. Primary responsibilities is to collect or scan admission tickets and passes from patrons at events, greet patrons attending events, examine tickets or passes to verify authenticity, refuse admittance to persons without tickets or passes. Must be dependable, well groomed, have telephone or cell phone (no long distance telephone numbers) and transportation to and from facility. Able to stand for long period of time and able to walk up and down stairs. Ability to follow instructions and communicate well with the public and fellow employees.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Minimum High School Diploma or GED.

OTHER COMMENTS:

  • Can not pick and choose which event you will work
  • Does include days, nights and weekends
  • Work 3 plus hours per event when called
  • Must be on time for shift

Civic Center - Box Office Ticket Seller

CLASSIFICATION: IPT (Irregular part time) called only when needed as event schedule dictates.
WAGE: $7.25 per hour

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: Primary responsibilities are to sale admission tickets to patrons at events.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Minimum High School Diploma or GED.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Experience working with the public. Experience requiring basic math computation. Must be computer literate.

OTHER COMMENTS:

  • Ability to communicate, cooperate and work well with fellow employees and the public.
  • Ability to follow directions as given and ability to execute basic math skills.
  • Must have valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to work unsupervised after receiving assignment.
  • Does include days, nights and weekends
  • Must have telephone or cell phone and transportation to and from facility.

Civic Center - Usher

CLASSIFICATION: IPT (Irregular part time) called only when needed as event schedule dictates.
WAGE: $7.25 per hour

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: Must be organized and have good communication skills. Primary responsibilities is to assist patrons, check tickets to make sure patrons are in the correct location and assist them to their seats, guide patrons to exits or provide other instructions or assistance in case of emergency, provide assistance with patrons' special needs, such as helping those with wheelchairs, direct patrons to restrooms, concession stands and telephones, settle seating disputes and help solve other customer concerns, Must be dependable, well groomed, have telephone or cell phone (no long distance telephone numbers) and transportation to and from facility. Able to stand for long period of time and able to walk up and down stairs. Ability to follow instructions and communicate well with the public and fellow employees.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Minimum High School Diploma or GED.

WAGE: $8.50 per hour

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: Must be organized and have good communication skills. Will observe and report activities and incidents at job task location, provide public relations, information, and engage in preventing illegal entry. Assists with preserving order and health and safety of patrons and may act to enforce directives for the job task location site pertaining to personnel, patrons, and premises. Provide assistance with patrons' special needs, such as helping those with wheelchairs. Must be dependable, well groomed, have telephone or cell phone (no long distance telephone numbers) and transportation to and from facility. Able to stand for long period of time. Ability to follow instructions and communicate well with the public and fellow employees. Will receive and sign for full employment requirements upon employment. Background check and drug screening required.
